Ah yes; exercise. Can you imagine Daniel Boone talking about exercise like we do? "Let's see, today I've got to clean my muzzle loader, pick up some flint and gun powder. And, oh yeah, I've gotta make sure I hit the treadmill, 'cause man, I had a huge lunch!

I'm willing to bet that Daniel didn't think, "Awe geeze, I've got to make time to exercise today". Make time? Seriously, between chopping wood to keep from freezing to death, planting & harvesting gardens &/or farms to keep from starving to death and walking to and from local events and gatherings (or perhaps, The Alamo!) people "back then" never stopped moving. Why can't we do the same? The answer is: we can, but we choose not to. We sit on our butts for unending hours clenching handheld gaming devices until we cannot feel our hands anymore, shooting down aliens like we are actually saving the world, in real time. Do we need to walk 6 miles for flint or gunpowder? No, but I bet we could benefit from walking 6 blocks for some eggs and milk. We, as a nation, are loosing muscle mass faster than we can ace a street fighter game - do we care?

A lot of things have changed over time. It’s true. But there is one thing that has always and will always remain constant for each person on the face of the earth. Here it is - you ready? Hold onto something it's called: choice. Choice! And the good news is we all get a big 'ol heaping helping of it every day. Every single day, each one of us has a choice about how we are going to live our lives for that one day. How cool is that?

So, let's say, for a moment, that you have you hate the gym. Ok, no sweat. Well, you might sweat a little but exercise can be anything you want it to be and at any time of the day - your choice. The thing is exercise does not have to be hard and grueling - it can be fun and challenging. Go to the gym or not - but make your exercise something you love, then you'll stick with it and love the results. You could plant a rose garden, take tennis lessons or watch the beautiful orange sunset while strolling and talking about the day's events with your family. Don't have time during the day? You can dance in your pj's at 3am or go to the gym on Saturday's. Work a lot? You can squeeze in a treadmill session between your 2 jobs or do a yoga CD at home. The idea here is anything is possible - your choice. If Daniel were here today would he say about "exercise"?

Those before us exercised every day, out of necessity and called it life; we exercise almost never and call it good. They did it because that's what they did - to live, we don't do it - but should, to save our lives. Just maybe, we should rethink our exercise game plan and live a stronger, healthier and happier life - what do you think? Personally, I think Daniel Boone could have moonlighted as a killer personal trainer - he and those guns of steel
