I had the honor and pleasure of participating as a business expert in a two day business owners workshop in Washington DC hosted and organized by the Make Mine a Million (M3) program and their many sponsors. Margery Miller created and facilitated the workshops to assist the M3 women business owner award winners to improve their business and personal successes at even a greater rate and degree than they are already performing. Approximately 49 M3 women business owner winners attended.

The business owner workshops were an outstanding success

Before this first time meeting for all of the M3 women business owner winners, they were an independent group of women business owners with similar goals and purposes but with only spotty contact between each other. The DC workshops changed everything. Now the M3 winners have become a major collective Movement! A sisterhood has developed to support, encourage, challenge and guide each sister in the movement to not only succeed at achieving the $1 million dollar level, and much more, but to create the personal lives each want as well. They discovered that the issues facing virtually each and every woman business owner in the M3 sisterhood are very similar in nature, and that the goals to personal and business successes will be achieved easier and quicker through the full use of the many resources offered by M3 and M3 sponsors, to include business coaching, and continued contact, cross discussions, and moral support with each of the women owners in the M3 sisterhood.

M3 Women business owners are on a roll

Look out world. Here come the M3 women business owners who will individually and collectively create a tidal wave of business AND personal successes that true business owners (men and women) dream about.

The many committees and action steps being taken by the M3 women business owner winners after DC are tributes to the value and success of the entire conference. The Yahoo groups have been buzzing with constant communications between the M3 winners to organize the movement into something even bigger.

How the workshops were conducted.

The workshop feature discussing the Five Keys to Business Success as designed and facilitated by Margery Miller. These five Keys are:
1. Vision
2. Business Practices
3. Growth
4. People
5. Continuous Improvement

Individual sessions of over two hours each were devoted to each of these 5 keys. The M3 winners chose which key session they wished to participate in by providing their own real world obstacles and the panel of experts and their sister M3 business owner winners would offer solutions, insights, and stories of encouragement to provide the action steps for each M3 winner to implement. Every M3 woman business owner came away with very concrete actionable steps to use in the own businesses to overcome similar if not the same obstacles. The sharing of like circumstances, facing the truth, and boy did the truth come out every time, and the realizations that each of the M3 women business owner winners were on the right paths for them to succeed even more, created a wonderful culture of individual successes supported by the entire M3 group.

I believe that the format and implementation of the workshops was very effective and very valuable to all of the participants. The five key ingredients were on target. Margery superbly conducted each session to maximize the development of solutions to the individual obstacles described by the approximately 12 M3 business owner winners who were on the panel and shared their specific problems. Virtually all of the M3 women business owner participants became very energized to implement the specific action steps they gained for themselves and their businesses. I believe the workshops are so valuable to the individual winners, and to the entire M3 movement that they should be repeated, and recognized for the exceptional benefits they provide to future winners. I believe that conducting these workshops from once to twice a year, no fewer than once a year would benefit the existing winners, and will help accelerate the new winners to reach their goals much faster.

New M3 winners will also be invited to future workshops. In fact, I believe that being included in these intense, insightful, yet fun filled and rewarding workshops will become another prize women business owners will enjoy, because they applied for and became M3 winners themselves.

M3 Women business owners are special

I also had the opportunity to personally talk with dozens of M3 women business owner winners (and TCC coaching clients) at DC and I was greatly impressed and moved by their integrity, their successes, and their maturity. I was also very gratified to hear from so many winners how much they gained from their TCC coaching. Not only publicly but even more so in private. These winners are FOCUSD toward achieving much higher business and personal success levels than they had ever considered and certainly ever thought possible. Most are shooting beyond the $1 million mark with visions of changing and improving the world at the same time. I feel confident that they will do it. Many already have.

I had a lot of fun assisting M3 winners improve their hiring successes, their financing possibilities, their vision creations, and their working relationships with partners to name a few things we talked about. I really enjoyed seeing these M3 women business owner winners recognize and accept how astute and intelligent they are to the real aspects of business and life. Once they changed their perspectives to believe in themselves and caught on to new methods to succeed, they were off and getting out of the way was the best thing I could do. They are a real force.

TCC business coaching is a vital ingredient to the M3 successes

It became apparent to me and most of the winners I talked to who had used coaching to the fullest and who had not. Amazingly, approximately 15% of the M3 winners have not taken advantage of the personally matched TCC business coaching paid for by M3. The women business owner winners who use TCC coaching were focused on the future successes and on implementing the next steps to achieve their new business and personal goals. The issues they discussed were about completing future intermediate goals towards fulfilling their visions. They were all going where they wanted and were working on getting there. The women business owner winners who had not used coaching were either not there in DC, even though their full costs of travel, room, and board were paid for by M3 and their sponsors, or were there with most still being stuck in the confusion of what to do next.

The M3 successes keep coming

As reported last week by Nell Merlino, the founder and principal driving force behind the M3 program, 55% of the M3 women business owner winners have achieved at least $1 million in annual revenues. Since the article I have alerted Nell on 10/5/07 that at least two more TCC coached M3 women business owner winners will reach the $1 million revenue level in 2007. The successes of these marvelous M3 women business owners are mounting so fast that even Nell is having trouble keeping up.

Nell’s vision is to assist over 1 million women business owners to reach the $1 million dollar annual revenue level by the year 2010. Nell had discovered in 2005 that only approximately 245,000 (approximately 3% of the 8 million women owned businesses) had achieved the $1 million annual revenue level. Nell Merlino’s purpose and vision is to increase that number to 1,245,000 by 2010. Yet, the M3 program is already very close to becoming an extremely successful and powerful force; long before Nell achieves her vision. The M3 program will be a world recognized movement by the time her vision is eventually accomplished.
